F for Fake



The biggest delusion is that now, thanks to AI, you can’t trust “anything” you see in the media.


You could never trust anything you could see in the media.


As Orson Welles demonstrates here in F for Fake (1973), it was always a camera trick—we just have different camera tricks today.


You shouldn’t have believed anything ever.


It’s the same story with AI chatbots.


From the scientific perspective, man is just a looped algorithm.


It’s just we have those in silicon too now.


“Am I speaking to a real human?”


Why did you ever believe there are “real” humans—


and not just bits between the void?


That’s why one of my four favourite video games as a teenager was Blade Runner.


Because I’m a one-off.
